"Celebration of Football" Q&A
1) Is this a boys or a girls tournament?
This tournament is a boys tournament. Whilst girls are very welcome to play, there is no seperate girls section in this tournament.
2) Have you held the tournament before?
Whilst this is the second Skem North tournament I have been organizing football tournaments for the last 8 years and have got quite a bit of experience. Local managers will know the Our Lady and All Saints Tournament in Parbold for which I have been responsible for 7 years. This is a 6-a-side tournament (as space at school does not allow for bigger teams) for local teams , played in an almost unique atmosphere and very popular with players, parents and managers alike. We are aiming to create a similar atmosphere whilst having full size teams on bigger pitches.
Last years tournament was a huge success. We had teams from the Isle of Man to Sheffield and from Blackpool to Staffordshire. Everyone has been enjoying himself in bright sunshine. There were a few delays, in particular on the Saturday, but the causes have been identified and we are confident that those teething problems will be polished out.

3) Are the age groups advertised this season's or next season's age groups?
The age groups refer to the 2013/14 season.
4) How many players can we bring to the tournament?
The maximum squad size for 7-a-side is 11 players, for 9-a-side is 14 players and for 11-a-side is 16 players.
5) Will there be space to set up a gazebo?
There is plenty of space and we would encourage you to bring a gazebo as there will be a dedicated area for a "team village".
6) How much football is there going to be for weaker teams?
As we aim to promote fun in football we will ensure that every team, whatever the ability will get at least 5-6 matches of 12 minute duration. in 7 and 9-a-side and 5 matches of 20 min duration in 11-a-side. There will also be certificates for everyone and a celebration for ALL players at the end of each age group. Medals and trophies for the winning teams, but recognition for everyone involved.
7) Are we allowed to bring Academy players that used to play for our team?
Whilst U7 and U8 players usually are part of both set-ups, U9 players and older are fully signed by an Academy and have moved on from Sunday or Saturday league football. Therefore we allow U7 and U8 players, but no older children involved in Academy football. Bringing players that belong to another team (Academy) is not fair on players that play in a team week in week out or other teams.
